This page is a tribute to Louise Jane Watts (nee Rider).
Louise’s journey with cancer ended peacefully as she passed away on 3rd October at Hospiscare’s Exeter Hospice. Louise told each of her three children how much she loved them, and then fell asleep with her husband by her side.
Even as a child, Louise was determined to be a teacher. Her true vocation was to guide her pupils, especially those with lower ability or who had had a tricky start in life, to achieve more than they ever believed they could. Past pupils fondly remember her ability to manage challenging classrooms, calmly and quietly, by treating the children with respect.
Louise was a positive, active and sporty person; at her happiest by the sea or in the outdoors. She inspired each of her children to play hockey, the game that she loved, and was so proud to see both her boys qualify for the Devon Hockey squad.
Louise tackled her severe allergies and then cancer in the same way she lived her life: cheerfully and actively; and was always keen to minimise the impact on those around her.
She was a loving wife, nurturing mother, caring daughter and kind, thoughtful friend, who will be deeply missed by those that knew her. Louise has been promoted to glory to join her dear grandparents in heaven.
“But He’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbour,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously - take God seriously.”
Micah 6:8 (Message Version)
No flowers please, but if you'd like to make a donation it would be wonderful if you'd support Anaphylaxis UK (the charity that supports people with severe allergies: Louise spoke in the Houses of Parliament on their behalf), Hospiscare (who fund the wonderful Exeter Hospice that supported us so kindly in Louise's final days), and/or Force (the Exeter charity that supported our family especially as Louise went through her first cancer diagnosis and treatment).
In memory of Louise. We are sad we never knew her better.
Sincere condolences from our family to yours x
In deepest sympathy
